| GameWorks Makes “Warmachine: Tactics” Steam-Punk World Pop Posted: 20 Feb 2015 02:50 PM PST Earlier this week Warmachine: Tactics players quietly got an upgrade to their go-to game. Their graphics quality went up, but their frame rates did not go down.
How did this happen? The developers of the game, WhiteMoon Dreams, released a patch to add support for NVIDIA HBAO+ to their title. Warmachine: Tactics is a next-generation, turn-based tactical game developed with the Unreal Engine 4 gaming engine, modeled from the tabletop game Warmachine. You command your custom squad of steam-powered robots and elite warriors in raging battles dominated by magic and mechanika. It delivers a rich multiplayer experience through cutting-edge visuals, an immersive world setting and squad customization features that offer a rich multiplayer experience along with an extensive single-player campaign. Just yesterday it was announced that you can give Warmachine:Tactics, with full multiplayer access, a try for free. Shadowing is a key determiner of graphics quality, so to get the steam-punk fantasy-inspired look they wanted, WhiteMoon Dreams upgraded to HBAO+. NVIDIA HBAO+ continues to gain traction in the development community as a fast, simple way to add exceptional detail to the lighting and shadowing of a game. Its image quality exceeds that of any other technique, and does so without a noticeable impact on performance. Check out the full list of titles with HBAO+.
