| “Batman: Arkham Knight” Now Available, Loaded with GameWorks Technology Posted: 22 Jun 2015 06:17 PM PDT It's hard for me to believe that the grand finale to Rocksteady's epic Batman Arkham series arrives today. I've been working with them and Warner Bros since the beginning of the series and I'm kinda sad to see it end. But what a way for it to go. As with each of the prior games, Rocksteady and our engineers at GameWorks Studios have incorporated fantastic effects into Batman: Arkham Knight. And they've loaded it with GameWorks technology. NVIDIA PhysX Clothing and Destruction will bring realism to the game on both PCs and consoles. Rocksteady has adorned many of the game's main characters with our NVIDIA Clothing technology. See it on Commissioner Gordon, Ivy, Harley, Oracle, Scarecrow, Penguin, the Riddler and others. Rocksteady has also used NVIDIA Destruction for stuff that blows up and breaks — creating debris that interacts with objects, smoke, other debris and particles. PC gamers with a capable graphics card can enjoy features such as Interactive Paper Debris and Interactive Smoke and Fog. Rocksteady has used our Interactive Cloth Debris technology to create the money, trash and paper debris that interacts with characters and objects around Gotham City. The game's fog and smoke effects rely on NVIDIA Turbulence to interact with the characters and other objects in the game. PC gamers like me who play on a GeForce GTX graphics card will get bonus special effects. Enhanced Rain means raindrops realistically bounce off Batman's cape as he jumps, flies, glides, grapples and dives in rain-soaked Gotham City. As helicopters fly overhead, Volumetric Lighting creates what developers call "god rays" that shine down from the search lights. One of the coolest new features of the game involves the Batmobile. Admittedly, I'm a terrible driver in games (in real life, too). In Arkham Knight, it almost doesn't matter because the wreckage I leave in my disastrous wake looks awesome. Thanks to PhysX destruction, the guard rails, trees and other objects break into pieces on my screen. And as I make tight turns, put on the brakes or do a burnout, the tire smoke looks amazing. That's thanks the NVIDIA Turbulence and a Particle Shadow Mapping that lets the smoke cast shadows on itself. While at E3, we had a chance to meet up with the developers. Here is what they had to say about GameWorks. Once you play the game, you'll agree that Rocksteady has done it again. They're created another awesome Batman video game. Before playing Batman: Arkham Knight, make sure you install today's Game Ready Driver. Planning to buy a GeForce GTX graphics card soon? Free download codes are available for customers who buy select GeForce GTX 980 Ti, 980, 970 and 960 graphics cards, or a GTX 970M or above notebook. The offer is good until July 15, 2015. | Windows 10 is Game Ready for “Batman: Arkham Knight” Posted: 22 Jun 2015 05:39 PM PDT With the arrival of our Game Ready driver for Batman: Arkham Knight, we're releasing the first Game Ready Windows Hardware Qualification Lab certified driver with support for Windows 10. Although the next version of Microsoft's Windows operating system doesn't formally launch until next month, we're committed to providing Windows 10 gamers with the same day-1 gaming quality they've come to expect. Taking a look at the phenomenal titles we've already seen in 2015, you'll find every title has had a Game Ready driver made available the day it launched or earlier. Now, beginning with Batman: Arkham Knight, every Game Ready WHQL driver will be offered simultaneously on Windows 10 and other Windows operating systems. This will be a great year for Windows gaming, thanks to support for a host of new gaming features in Windows, including the new DirectX 12 graphics application programming interface built into Windows 10. We're working on DX12 on many fronts. Our engineers are providing drivers, working with game engine providers, and co-developing with Microsoft. We're also helping game developers deploy their DX12 titles. GeForce has been the GPU of choice for key DX12 demos from Microsoft since the API was announced. Combining the world's fastest GPU hardware with a high-quality graphics driver made for the perfect showcase for the next-generation features of Windows 10 and DirectX 12. With our support for Windows 10, this is a combination you'll soon be able to enjoy at home, too.
